I started hypnotherapy with Kay last year after having to take a break from work due to suffering with anxiety and panic attacks. I was scared and found it difficult to cope with life. I had been suffering with anxiety for three years prior to meeting Kay, and I had experienced a number of therapists who helped me short-term but were unable to make any long-term changes. Hypnotherapy was something I had heard of but never thought it would be for me. However, since beginning with Kay, it wasn’t just the hypnotherapy that played huge role in healing my anxiety, her knowledge about the physiology behind mental health, her hands-on approach and mostly importantly her kindness was what made my time with her so beneficial. Kay taught me how to deal with anxiety by providing me with knowledge, skills and understanding and making me realise that I am not alone, and I can fix it. I worked with Kay for about four months and every week I improved, my self-worth grew, I became happier, and I started to feel excited for the future. I suddenly started to feel and see myself really growing into a resilient and strong individual. When I first met Kay, I was scared to be alone, I couldn’t even go to the shops or get on public transport without the fear of having a panic attack. Now, my outlook on life has changed. I am back teaching and I have recently received a teaching job overseas starting in August, where I will move by myself and start a new and exciting life out there. If it wasn’t for Kay, I wouldn’t have believed this to be possible.

I have been lucky enough to have had Kay in my life for the past few months, and what a huge difference those few months have made! Having often wondered about hypnotherapy, I decided to research a little bit and was delighted to find Focus Therapy in my local area.
After a very stressful few years, my anxiety was awful and my life had become very difficult. I no longer recognised myself, and knew I had to take action.
From my very first session, I was put at ease, I felt extremely relaxed talking to Kay and enjoyed learning about the benefits of hypnotherapy. I was excited to see if it would help.
Each session was different, some sessions stirred up some emotions and, a few days would pass after therapy and I would feel 'lifted' and rid of the things weighing me down.
I also liked the little bits of homework, learning how to change daily habits and tell myself positive affirmations morning and night.
Overall my experience has been extremely positive, I looked forward to my sessions and loved how relaxed I felt after.

Kay was recommended to me by a friend. I didn’t have a specific reason to go to a therapist, but I knew that I was functioning in a permanently highly stressed state, which had led to sleep disruption and other health issues.
Gradually, using probing questions Kay helped me to self reflect and question myself. Her hypnotherapy and meditation sessions helped me revert from my highly stressed state to being so relaxed that I could look back and see how the past had affected my ‘inner child’.
She sent me information and tasks to do in between sessions, making me realise that this was a joint effort in improving my life and that I would have to put the work in too.
