Anxiety and relaxation are two mutually exclusive states .. they cannot dominate the same body at the same time. The stronger one tends to progressively cancel the weaker one out.
Using hypnosis, I will guide you into a deeply relaxed state, and by facing your fears and phobias gradually and systematically, you can use the relaxation response to cancel out any anxiety and replace it with feelings of calm.
This technique is hypnotic desensitisation. It allows you to learn and rehearse your relaxation skills while facing your fears and phobias in the safely of the consulting room. Using your imagination to picture the things you want to overcome, and the way you would like to act. By doing so you will find that the same feelings of relaxation remain with you in the real world when the session is over.
Often there are irrational emotional beliefs or attitudes held by a client towards a trigger that can result in unhelpful and sometimes extremely distressing consequences. We often tend to blame the consequence on the trigger, when it is actually the clients beliefs that ignite those unwanted feelings.
We look at these unhelpful thoughts, feelings and actions and work to change these negative patterns into positive outcomes for a happier, calmer life.
